BATHS

Thames Baths

London

Ongoing

Designed to reconnect Londoners to the city’s greatest natural asset – the River Thames –Thames Baths is not one pool but many. Originally drawn in response to a design competition for a site at Blackfriars, the idea is for a swimming-place on a floating dock, with enclosed sections of river water refreshed and filtered by the tide. The clean architecture belies the scheme’s technical complexity, and plays a supporting role to the concept, redressing overdevelopment on the banks of the Thames and significantly benefitting the wellbeing of city dwellers.

The project has since become the focus of a wider campaign and, as our understanding of the river has grown, has been reworked for many different locations in central London. Our technical know-how has developed with the design and, with this wealth of information, we are now able to take a leadership role in the delivery of urban swim sites across the world.
